Ages, Timing & Getting It Right
With good planning, a safari can work for families with children of almost any age, and we’ll help you get the details right. Some camps have minimum-age policies for certain activities such as walking safaris, and a private vehicle removes many of the constraints families otherwise face — we’ll steer you towards the parks, camps and activities best suited to your children’s ages and interests. For families with younger children, we often favour parks with shorter drives and lower malaria risk, and camps with pools and space to relax.
On timing, the dry season (June to October) is popular with families — it coincides with many school holidays, offers superb wildlife and comfortable conditions, and has lower malaria risk. That said, we can advise on the best time for your family’s dates and priorities. From health and safety to pacing and activities, we think through everything so that your family trip is as smooth and stress-free as it is exciting.
