Explore magnificent geological features of the Great Rift Valley or the vast Serengeti National Park. Our northern circuit safaris will give you the most personal experience of mother Africa.
You will experience multiple ecosystems: Lake Manyara’s groundwater forests, Tarangire’s baobab-studded plains, the Ngorongoro Crater, and the vast Serengeti. Expert guides will ensure that you view all the important wildlife and birds. Accommodations will be comfortable and of a true safari spirit. Meet the Big Five: Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino, along with countless other birds and the enormous Great Migration herds. This will be far more than a holiday, it’s a trip to the real center of life.
Once you arrive in Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) at 10:40 AM, you will be greeted by your safari guide. After a small introduction, you will head toward the higher and cooler weather of Karatu. First, you will drive through the busy city of Arusha, known as the "Geneva of Africa.", and then through coffee plantations and small local towns on your drive. Once you arrive Karatu, you will be served your hot lunch prepared at the resort. You will be free in the afternoon to help you acclimate to your new surroundings, whether you would like to take a pool break and enjoy the gardens at the resort. After dinner, which will be local produce and dishes prepared in a big kitchen, you will head to the terrace for a meal.

You will begin your journey to Lake Manyara National Park, and you will be given picnic lunch boxes after finishing breakfast. Lake Manyara National Park is located at the base of the Great Rift Valley's escarpment. Great Rift Valley Lake Manyara National Park is an oasis and known for its diverse ecosystems. You will begin the drive through a groundwater forest which is a home to baboons and blue monkeys. The forest transitions to a floodplain which is home to the parks many famous tree-climbing lions and an abundance of elephants. The parks alkaline lake is a home to many water birds including thousands of flamingos. You will be able to enjoy your picnic lunch at a designated site within the park. Later you will be able to ascend the escarpment and head back to the town of Karatu for your evening relaxation and dinner.

This will be the best day of the trip! You'll have an early breakfast and then get picnic lunch boxes for the road. It's off to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You'll go over 600m down into the Ngorongoro Crater. This is the largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera in the whole world! This large depression in the ground is a home to a diverse range of wildlife and is uniquely different to all the other ecosystems, including over 25k large animals. While you drive across the the bottom land of the crater, your best opportunity to to spot the rare Black Rhino will present itself. This will complete your Big Five checklist! You'll get to see the fever tree forest, open plains and Lake Magadi where the hippos live and where patrolling hyenas roam. The day is action packed and you get a picnic lunch near the hippo pool! After wildlife viewing you will climb the steep sides of the crater and get transported back to Karatu for a well deserved dinner.
Farm of Dreams Lodge | Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
In the morning, following breakfast, the farm of dreams lodge will have picnic lunch ready for you and you will embark on a day long game drive in Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is known for being one of the most highly elephant populated game parks and elephant playground. The landscape is dotted with ancient baobob trees which add a nice touch to the prehistoric feel of the area. The dry season draws in many thirsty herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, and gazelle, which all head to the Tarangire river, a hotspot for thirsty wildlife. Major predators such as lion and leopard can be spotted resting in shade of the river or stalk the game on the river banks. You will return to the lodge in the town of Karatu for the night after a long day driving the river circuits and exploring the swamps.

After breakfast, you'll have the morning free at your own leisure. It's a great time to think about your past adventures, browse through your photos, or just relax in the peaceful settings of the Karatu highlands. You can also go for a short nature walk around the lodge which can be quite nice or buy any last-minute souvenirs. After that it will be time to leave for the short drive to the Arusha airport. Your guide will make sure that you have plenty of time at the airport for your 16:00 PM departure and your memorable Tanzanian safari will come to an end.
