The Great migration is a spectacle best viewed at the serengeti. During this time millions of zebras and wildebeests travel across the landscape while dodging rivers filled with crocodiles. Some other attractions apart from the migration include the big five of Africa, cheetahs, and no less than 500 species of birds. On every game drive, lions can be seen lazing around on rocks while leopards are camouflaged in the trees making each drive exciting and one of a kind.

Best Time to Visit

The months between June to October to visit the Serengeti are fantastic as it's the dry season. This is the time for the Great Migration, where animals cross rivers in large numbers, peaking in July. The rest of the year, from November to May is also beautiful but for different reasons. January to February is calving season, which brings prey animals and thus, is a great time to observe their predators in action.

The Great Migration is the world’s largest overland migration, comprised of over 1.5 million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle. It takes place in the Serengeti ecosystem, with important river crossings of the migration in June-July and again in October.

Of course! The park is home to the lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and rhinos, although the rhinos are rarer and a bit more difficult to find.

Game drives, walking safaris, hot air balloon safaris, night drives, or cultural tours with the Maasai are a few options.

You can board a flight from Arusha to Serengeti National Park’s airstrip, Seronera, or opt for a road trip which takes around 6-7 hours. Tour operators can arrange logistics.

Pack cameras, insect repellents, and mildly colored clothing along with a hat and sunscreen. For harsher temperatures, layering clothing is recommended.
